eBay UK Confirms that from the 30th June 2009 it will restrict the sale of electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) on its
marketplace. The controversial electronic cigarette has been described by some as "untested & unregulated" however
since its introduction it is spreading rapidly throughout the world. An electronic cigarette is a battery powered
cigarette that can be charged up via USB or mains and used without a flame. Briefly comprising the atomizer, the battery,
and the nicotine cartridge. The atomizer heats up the nicotine solution that gets inhaled by the user and then becomes vapor.
The vapor looks and feels just like traditional tobacco smoke, but allegedly doesn't contain all of the other ingredients & poisons
that are contained within a normal cigarette. The vapor also evaporates quickly leaving no lingering smell and no odour.
eBay's statement reads:
"From 30th June 2009, electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes will be banned from sale on eBay.co.uk and eBay.ie.
This ban will enable ebay.co.uk and ebay.ie to have consistent policies with other eBay sites throughout Europe.
The ban also includes any listing of component parts (including but not limited to): cartridges, atomisers, liquid refills,
vaporisers, batteries and shells...." [Read More]
